How it works

Port pair to booked container, in four steps

  1. 01

    Pick a lane

Choose an origin and destination port and a container size (20β€², 40β€², or 40β€² High Cube). Commodity is always FAK (Freight All Kinds), so you never need an exact commodity to get a rate.

  2. 02

    Reveal the rate

Rates are blurred until you reveal them. One click unblurs the live rate. You get 5 free reveals a day, with a quick one-time email and verification to keep it free and fair.

  3. 03

    See the full picture

Each reveal shows the ship-now spot rate, where the lane is trending month over month, the available sailing windows, and the estimated transit time.

  4. 04

    Book or talk to us

Book the lane in one click and our team confirms it, or reach out for contracted rates if you ship regular volume. Those go lower than the public board.

Every reveal

What each rate shows

Ship-now spot rate

Our current rate for the soonest sailing on the lane. The number you see, no hidden fee.

Month-over-month trend

A trend line of how the lane has moved over recent months, so you can see whether rates are climbing or easing.

Sailing windows + booking

The available departure windows with their rates, estimated transit time, and one-click booking or a direct quote.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How often are Gateway Lines ocean rates updated?

Daily. We refresh our rates every day, and each lane shows today’s rate plus how it has trended over recent months.

Are these spot rates or contract rates?

They are instant one-off spot rates for the soonest sailing. If you ship regular volume, Gateway Lines can set you up with contracted rates that go lower than the public board.

What does FAK mean?

Freight All Kinds. It is a standard full-container rate that covers most general commodities, so you can get a rate without specifying an exact commodity.

Is a Gateway fee added to the rate?

No. The displayed number is the raw market rate for a full container on that lane. Surcharges, equipment, and final terms are confirmed at booking.

Which lanes are covered?

Major trans-Pacific and global ocean lanes, for example Shanghai to Long Beach, Ningbo to New York, and Shenzhen to Savannah. Search any port pair; if we don’t have it yet, you can request a quote.

How many rates can I see?

Five free reveals per day. Become a Gateway Lines customer for unlimited instant rates and better pricing when you ship with us.

How accurate are the rates?

They are our own rates, not estimates. Each rate is what it costs to ship the lane now, and the trend line shows genuine month-over-month movement.

How do I book a lane?

Reveal a lane and hit Book now. It sends your lane and contact details to our team, who confirm the booking and next steps.
